TikTok now allows you to upload 10-minute videos

TikTok may no longer be considered a short video platform. Some users have received an important notification about a change in the length of videos that can be uploaded to the platform. Now, TikTok allows you to upload videos of 10 minutes in length.

In a statement to English media outlet The Verge, TikTok confirms that the update will take place globally. What does this change mean for the platform?

Now you can upload 10-minute videos to TikTok

Since this past Monday, February 28, some TikTok users have received a notification that they could upload videos up to 10 minutes long. We remember that he extended his limit from 1 minute to 3 minutes last July.

“Today, we are excited to begin rolling out the ability to upload videos up to 10 minutes, which we hope will unleash even more creative possibilities for our creators around the world.” – said a company spokesperson.

By extending the time allowed per video on TikTok, the company expects to see even more engagement from its users, which in turn can generate higher ad revenue.

You should know that a select number of users could already upload five-minute videos to the platform, but with the latest TikTok update, everyone will be able to post longer videos.

While this change may attract more users and increase overall engagement, it remains to be seen whether longer videos will work well with TikTok’s ‘For You’ algorithm. It is something really important for it to continue working as before by gluing users to their screens.

Without a doubt, it is now a challenge for TikTok to figure out how to correctly implement this new functionality. If you get a good implementation, you could jeopardize other platforms like YouTube.
